Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the stuff people usually ask.

Is SimTelemetry free?

Yes — the desktop app is completely free to download and use. You can record sessions, view telemetry, and analyze your laps locally without paying anything.

Free accounts include 30 AI credits per month, 100 cloud laps, and 20 analyses. Pro subscribers get 400 credits, unlimited cloud laps, and more. The core local experience will always be free.

What sims are supported?

Right now we support Assetto Corsa, Le Mans Ultimate, and iRacing. ACC and RaceRoom are planned next.

Do I need an account?

Yes (for now) but you still have an option to not sync to the cloud. You only need an account if you want to upload laps for AI analysis or community features.

Is my data safe?

Your telemetry data is saved locally on your machine. Nothing leaves your computer unless you explicitly choose to upload specific laps.

We don't capture gameplay, or collect personal data in the background. Read our full Privacy Policy.

What does the AI analysis do?

When you upload a lap, you can ask the AI to analyze it. It reads your telemetry data and points out where you're losing time — late braking, early throttle lift, inconsistent lines, etc.

You can also ask follow-up questions to dig deeper into specific corners or driving habits.

Can I compare my laps with other drivers?

Yes. If you upload laps publicly, they appear on the community leaderboard. You can overlay your telemetry against anyone else's public laps to see exactly where they're gaining time.

Does it work on Mac or Linux?

Currently Windows only, since most sim racing setups are on Windows. Mac and Linux support is planned for the future.

How is this different from MoTeC or other tools?

MoTeC is incredibly powerful but has a steep learning curve. SimTelemetry is designed to be instant — open the app, record, view your data. No setup, no file wrangling, no manual imports.

We also add AI-powered analysis and community comparison, which traditional tools don't offer.

Will it be open source?

We plan to open-source the recording and local playback core so anyone can build on it. Check the Open Source page for details.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Join our Discord community or reach out on social media. We're a small team and we actually read everything.
